I want to thank all the members that helped at the nugget lake outing, and
make it a joy to be at. Thou I didn't get a lot of gold I got 180 micro spects
from three days prospecting and still have dirt from the raffle bucket to run,
If it only quits raining.
As you know I have been having trouble with my truck not wanting to start.
It ran every time at the outing. But on Tuesday night I went to my sisters to
pick up some carpeting for a different sister. The truck wouldn't start when I
was ready to go home. My sister got it started the next morning and brought it
to me house. I drove it to work Thursday and it wouldn't start when I wanted to
go home had to call Gayle to come and get me. It wouldn't start yet on Saturday
after I work the morning, my mechanic picked it up in the afternoon and it
started for him and has been starting for him ever since. I don't think it likes
me. And I don't like it anymore either. Im looking for a new truck. I was going
to try one out Monday but guess what, it wouldn't start! It has been on the lot
long enough for both batteries to die. It is a diesel Ford 3500 super max it
looks real good only 84000 miles. After they charge the batteries Im going to
test drive it. Need a truck to get my camper to Muskellunge Lake. Time is
getting short and I just got my driveway cemented now money is getting tight
too. I will get to Muskellunge for the weekend outing even if I have to use my
car and tent it only I wouldn't stay the whole week then. Im sure Ill have a
truck by then thou!
If I don't see you at muskellunge I hope some of you will make it
to Thermal city in august for the Wausau outing. $50 a person to be part of the
dig. I have a room at the super 8 in Marion. I Talked to Kim Mickleson last
night she said that one is booked full, she is going to get one in Black
Mountain. Im working 6 days a week when im not at an outing, I really look
forward to the outings!
See you on the beach or in the creek Mike Fait

Club Business:
We had 20 members make it to the
June outing at Nugget Lake County Park. The weather was cloudy but almost no
rain, it was in the low 70s which made digging comfortable. We started off with
a brat and hamburger fry. Thanks to Gary Morrison for cooking and Larry Bender
helping with the raffles. Barb Bublitz won the 50/50 raffle.
Dave
Ambrose and Cory Werner won nuggets Ricahrd Niemyjski won the concentrates bag.
After a short meeting some of us headed for the creek, all we using either a
pyramid pan or a flow pan. Everyone got some gold thou it was all small.
Donations: Larry Bender donated a nugget for the raffle and the brats for the
meal. Jeff Hastings and Mike Fait also made donations to the raffle.
The Midstate hunt was discussed at the meeting.
July
13 outing is at Muskellunge State park 29881 co rd. 407 Newberry Mi.49868
906-658-3338 Michigan relay center Muskellunge
park in Michigan. The park might not have any sites left for camping as they
have two thirds shut down for electrical upgrades. I have a site for the week
but have to move mid-week to be able to stay for the whole week! There is gold
in the black sands on the beach, how much I can tell you as it changes each year
and after each storm! There are other campgrounds in the area if you do a google
search you can find them, but they are most likely off a gravel or sand road. If
you come up thru Newberry you will be on blacktop the whole way. Phone # for
Muskellunge Lake is 906-658-3338.
Black
sand on the beach has gold in it. It is very hard to separate out of the black
sands. You can run a gold cube or battery operated sluce on the beach but you
can't take water by pump directly from the lake, but can use buckets to fill
your tubs for recirculation. When you are done you have to dump your water and
sand back on the beach not into the lake. With the high water in the great lakes
im no sure how much beach we will have to work with. There are also lots of
rocks on the beach and everyone is looking for agates and fossils. Here is the
web site for the park

Gold Price on 07/01/19 was $1,383.70 Silver Price on 75/01/19 was $15.11
