President’s Message
As I read all the outings on the list I don't know how I will be able to make
them all. Work has been mandating me every chance they get, even with me
volunteering to work whenever I don't have a meeting or outing, let alone a
family thing! I also want to go back to Roaring Camp with Wayne this year! I'm
burned out already the year hasn't even started. And I don't know when we will
be able to squeeze in a detecting outing maybe April but that depends on the
weather or August. I’m pretty sure if I go to California I won't be able to go
to Athens.
I hope to see you all at the Christmas
party on the 21st. See
you at the meetings Mike Fait President

Kurt also brought information from the
Indiana Gold Prospectors Alaska trip to Akau Resort. Prices are for a group of
twenty $1600 a week per person. You are responsible for your airfare. If you are
interested in this trip call Jeffery Behnke at 847-858-2526. Jeff is the
president of the Indiana gold prospectors or call Thomas Fowlkes at 317-946-0155
Thomas is the state director for Indiana.
Mick Whalen talked to the group on
improving mating to capture fine gold. You can see this mat making on you tub by
Allen Robinson. Mike has made some molds with matting in them. He then uses 100%
silicon- it must be clear. You also need a mix of Dawn dish soap and water in a
25/75 soap to water ratio. First squeeze the silicon onto a flat board, if you
try to squeeze it directly into the mixture you will get worm like deposits. Put
the pile of silicon into the soap/water solution for 2 and 1/2 minutes to
thicken up the caulk. Pre spray your mold before putting silicone on so it comes
off easier when hard. Smear silicone into the mold use the tube to roll it flat
on the backside and get the air bubbles out. Wait at least half a hr. to harden
before removing. You now have your very own silicone mat it is supposed to be
very efficient at separating the gold from the black sand. Do not breathe in the
fumes!
The GPAA is giving away 4 bags of concentrates a week until the end of the year

Subject: mining scales for sale
Hello,

don't know how to send them on a pc, sorry. These scales are from Ca from when I
used to mine years ago and in great shape. The larger ones are worth 300-375 and
not sure yet about the smaller ones. I'm listing these for my friend and if you

Largest Gold Nuggets Ever Found
As of July 15, 2019
The 5 Biggest Gold Nuggets ever found by humans. With the second-largest gold
nugget finding recently in Australia (2018).
Learn about what percentage of gold purity the typical gold nugget is depending
on the location it is found. As well, what the troy ounce gold yield was for
each of the biggest gold nuggets ever found. To begin, let us define what a Gold
Nugget is.
Gold Nugget
- (n) a naturally occurring piece of native high-density gold.
Gold nuggets often get recovered by placer mining, but they also get found in
residual deposits where the gold-bearing veins or lodes get weathered. Gold
nuggets also get discovered in the tailings piles of previous mining operations,
especially those left by gold mining dredges.
Gold nuggets typically have a 21K to 22K gold purity (88% to 92% gold by mass
weight).
Historically gold nuggets found in Australia are often 23K or higher purity.
Alaskan gold nuggets are usually at the lower end of the gold nugget purity
spectrum.
A gold nugget’s fineness or purity can be roughly assessed by a gold nugget’s
color. The darker and more vibrant an orange-yellow coloring a gold nugget has
the higher percentage the gold content yield it has typically.
Gold nuggets high in silver content constitute the alloy electrum, which is the
gold-silver mixed composition of the
first
gold coins struck and used in Ancient Lydia around 600 B.C.
Below we count down the 5 Biggest Gold Nuggets ever recorded with the
second-largest find recently occurring only months ago in Australia
