Presidents Message
This month the Tomah Club will be
going to Nugget Lake on Sept 21 for our group dig. All The participants will
collect concentrates from 10:00 am till 2:00pm then we will combine all of them
in a tub mix them and give all the participants an equal share this way if you
weren't in a good spot you will still get the same amount of gold as everyone
else. You will still have to pan your own concentrates afterword. We will meet
at the parking area at the bottom of the hill on the way to the lake.
Remember there is a $5 charge per vehicle payable at the office. I will be in
campsite 12 for the weekend. We will do a group supper Saturday night for all
those still at the park. It is pot luck the club still has hamburgers and
hotdogs from June and soda. Try to bring something to add to the meal!
We will be returning to the Town
of Lagrange town hall in October to start the indoor season. People bring your
stories about what you did this summer! It will also be election time for the
officers.
It is a long drive to both places and Im not sure if I will do it again Ive
done it 8 or 9 times already and that might be enough.
Next year we might return to South Dakota, stay tuned!
See you in the creeks Mike Fait

Tomah Wisconsin GPAA Chapter Minutes August, 2019
Club Business:
Last month the chapter joined with the Wausau club for an outing to Thermal city
gold mine. We all ran trammels and went thru 11 loads of dirt one for each
member there. All told we got more than 6 grams of gold, no one got rich but we
had a good time.
We all met at Smoky Que's for supper Saturday night too. Sunday we had the gold
draw and then some of the people left, they were there before the dig. Members
worked the panning table too all got gold.
Larry Bender, Mike and Gayle Fait ran the trammel again on Monday.
Got about the same amount of gold as
each pile produced Saturday. We also went up to the Vein Mountain LDMA camp for
a tour Sunday and bought some concentrates there. They look really good Larry
has already run his and he got over 3 grams in his bag!
Tuesday we went to tour the Reed gold mine, the site of the first gold rush in
the USA near Midland North Carolina. It was a two hour trip from Marion. We also
stopped at Carolina prospector in Statesville NC.
Wednesday we went to the Lucky strike mine, the owners were real friendly but it
was too hot to work a high banker. They were experiencing a heat index of 103
that day, so I just bought a bag of dirt and we went to Dahlonega Ga. There we
toured the Consolidated mine, the town square with the gold museum in the
center, and went to the Crissum mine to buy more dirt, and pan a small bit we
got for taking the tour. The helper there let us pan in the tables and I got
more gold that way than what they give out in their tour pans. We also ran a gem
bucket and got some small gems.
There were no raffles last month!
Gold Price
on 09/1/19 was $1,519.60
Silver Price on 9/1/19 was $18.34
