Vice Presidents Message and News:

Where has the summer gone?  With the officers of the club coming back from or still on vacation this will be a shortened version of the Newsletter for August, 2007. Richard is currently “Out West” checking out some possible sites for the club.

I myself just returned from the clubs common dig in Chicken Alaska at Dean Race’s claims on the South Fork of the Forty-Mile River. There where 6 of us there during the week of July 22-28. We didn’t get as much gold as we had hoped but it was a “Once in a Lifetime Mining Adventure”. We really enjoyed it. The program for the August meeting will be on the Chicken Alaska expedition.

The Wausau WI GPAA Chapter (Wausau Prospectors) had there first meeting August 4th and will continue to have there meeting on the first Saturday of the month at 11 A.M. at the Labor Temple, 318 S. Third Ave. in Wausau. Location is subject to change. For further information please contact Robert Hoffmann at 715-551-0426 or Mike McKee at 715-423-4281.

Old News: At the last club meeting in July, club president Richard Hanson talked about his travels to the GPAA Gold Show in Rapid City, SD, the clubs common dig to Thermal City, NC, and Crater of Diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro, AR. Huge Durgin (Tink) donated a lot of fine gold/nuggets for the club raffles. There where 16 people present.

New News: the Michigan Chapter of the GPAA is having a Chapter Outing at the LDMA Property in Athens, Michigan September 22, 2007. This will be open to anyone who is a member of the GPAA/LDMA and they are allowed to bring a guest following the rules set up by the GPAA/LDMA.  The Chapters Website is: www.michgpaa.homestead.com

Hope to see you at the next club meeting, August 18, at 11 A.M. at the Boys and Girls Club in Tomah. Please bring a dish to pass.
