My Bio by Rob Townsend aka robq7

I have been rockhounding as far back as I can remember. My earliest memories of collecting is at an opal mine in the Mojave desert with my Dad who was stationed there in the early 70's. I was in the Navy for 11 years and traveled around the world and collected all over the place. Due to very limited space and moving all the time I was only able to keep a little of what I found. I collect just about anything as long as I can slab, cab, or display it. I live in S.E. Texas and I have to drive 114 miles to the nearest rockhound site witch happens to be Toledo Bend witch is famous for petrified wood. I get to travel quite a bit with my job from coast to coast and get a day or a couple hours to collect now and then. Hopefully I'll run into you out in the field some day.
